Hi, I'm Doug Fowler. I live in Canton, Ohio, and love history, among other things. I've been writing and telling stories since I was little,
with my first attempt at a book a short novella about baseball I hand-wrote in high school, showing how old I am!
My first story I remember coming up with was about why a toy stuffed dog had such weird colors. I said the purple
came from rolling in grape juice, and some flowers from rolling in a flower patch afterward on the way to his great-grandma's.
Yes, I had some oddly colored animals. I was born legally blind, with 20/800 vision, so my family tried to find ones they knew I'd see well.
It stems from mild Dandy-Walker Syndrome. I was also born with only partial hearing (70% one side, 30% the other), a bit of cerebral palsy,
and while my being quite literal and not picking up some things might just be from those other challenges,
and I can't rule out straddling the line between neurotpical and borderline Asperger's.
I didn't just start writing as a career. I graduated from the College of Wooster in 1991 with a Communication degree,
Case Westen Law School in '94, and Temple Baptist Seminary with a Masters in Ministry in 2008. I practice law part time,
doing wills and estate planning. I also am a volunteer with Global Media Outreach, with lots of great online resources like Godlife.com.
In addition, I was on the board of directors of an independent, inner-city ministry for 18 years and served with them for 21,
and I've done lots of volunteer work with my church, Canton Baptist Temple.
